Comfortable, breathable chain saw chaps constructed of water- and oil-resistant nylon over nine layers of Engtex™ protective padding. Upon contact with a chain saw chain, the fine filaments of the Engtex fabric are drawn into the saw to obstruct the moving parts and chain. An additional 12˝L back flap on the lower leg provides additional protection against thorny thickets and moving saw chain. Eight interlocking leg buckles (4 on each leg) keep chaps in place. One 1-1/2˝ interlocking waist buckle adjusts to give you a custom fit from 30˝ to 42˝. Machine wash and dry. Chap lengths are total length—not inseam. Measure from your waist to the top of your foot for correct sizing. Meets Leg Protection for Chain saw Operators enforced by OSHA Regulation 1910.266, classified by UL® using ASTM Test Method F1414 in accordance with ASTM Standard F1897.

It is not intended to substitute for good safety procedures in chain saw use. This garment is intended to, under limited conditions, assist the wearer in reducing the severity of injury from a running, gasoline powered chain saw which accidentally contacts the saw operator’s leg. Even with this garment, severe personal injury can result from contact with the rotating chain. This garment contains pads of cut-retardant material designed to reduce the risk of severity of injury to the body parts covered by the pads. In some contacts, the protective pads in this garment may resist the cutting process only for a fraction of a second. The actual degree of protection afforded will vary with the speed of the chain, the time and the angle of the contact, the power and torque of the saw, the design of the chain saw sprocket and similar factors. Follow all manufacturer’s instructions with regard to the use and care of this garment. Failure to follow the manufacturer’s instructions may result in the garment no longer having the capability of providing the minimum protection set forth by ASTM Standard F1897. This garment is NOT designed for use with electric chain saws due to their continuous high torque.
